Why does my student need an iPad?
Belton ISD has committed to a one-to-one iPad initiative in all secondary schools. We use a learning management system to post assignments and class notes which students will need to access daily. We also have online textbooks in many of our courses. In addition, many of our courses incorporate project-based learning. We strive to prepare our students for the future.
How much is the insurance fee and can I pay online?
There is a $20.00 insurance fee which is due before an iPad is issued. This insurance covers most repairs for the iPad. This insurance does NOT cover damages to the otterbox.
What if my child cracks the screen?
A cracked screen has a $50.00 deductible. Please have your student bring the iPad to the library so that we can send it to repair. We will assist them in backing the iPad up if possible, and once the deductible is paid or arrangements for payment are made, we will issue the student a different iPad.
Can I pay fines online?
We do not offer that at this time. Fines must be paid in person by cash or check.
Why does my child have fines?
Fines are issued for lost or damaged books, iPads, chargers, or otterbox parts. In addition, book and iPad fines carry over from elementary and middle school. Fine notices are sent out on a regular basis to the email on file.
What if I can not afford to pay the entire amount?
We offer several options for both the insurance fee and fine payment, including payment plans and BHS community service. (This community service must be done before or after school and must be for a staff member at BHS) Please come to the library to get either form.
What do we do if the iPad is lost or stolen?
Our management system includes the ability to ping a lost iPad that is on a network and has a battery charge. Lost or stolen iPad must be reported within three days. We will try to ping the iPad's location. If an iPad is stolen, a police report must be filed and we must get the case number for the report.
What do I do if I have concerns about my student's use of the iPad?
Please contact us with any concerns. We have a leveled system for restricting the iPads and will work with you to implement the solution that is best for your student.
